Caution! South-Eastern Artistes – Less Hit songs Less Awards

Voices of the upcoming entertainers in the South Eastern Part of Nigeria have risen with a question which deserves an answer, since the last quarter of the year 2017 till at the point of this article (MAY 2018).

Entertainment lovers from the south eastern part of Nigeria have been pictured complaining of demise of South-Eastern Musicians in the Nigerian Entertainment industry. Enugu is the second state where music and entertainment comes from in Nigeria After Lagos.

The just concluded 12th edition of Headies 2018 Award got fans talking alot about the South-Eastern musician not having any awards as all the top awards were issued to mainly lagos based artists and also yoruba indigens’.

Davido came up with 3 awards;

  • Best Pop Single
  • Song of the Year
  • Artist of the year

While Simi also came up with 3 awards;

  • Best R&B Single
  • Best Recording Year
  • Best Album of the year

Wizkid also bagged 4 Awards;

  • Headies viewers choice
  • Best Music  Video
  • Best R&B/Pop Album
  • Best Collaboration

Best Street Hop – Small Doctor

Headies Next Rated – Mayorkun

These sudden Rip offs got the South-Eastern music and entertainment lovers complaining and laying blames on the Blown Artists from the East as they don’t invest back from the talents in state where they come from. Trust me there are whole loads of uncovered talents from the east.

According to Black Mc on Facebook, he said; “All the 2018 Headies Awards went down to the Yoruba Artists, please what happened to our igbo brothers, None came back with even cabin biscuit”

Haven’t we really worked hard enough? most comments from the post above shows no blown artist from the south east wants a new face/talent to arise!

In some comments and posts from social media, complaints can be read that upcoming artists from the East are too proud, protruding, prominent, raised, convex and so elevated that no investor would want to uncover their talents.

They few rappers and singers who have enjoyed a little light from Stardom don’t give fans and investors reason’s to be proud of them.

With Davido’s statement on Headies stage, he said; “We rise by Lifting others”, this should go a long way to give a re-think on the picture of south-eastern artists.
